2 ingredients: melting chocolate ‘croissant’ puffs

These scrumptious melting chocolate puffs are quick and simple to make and a very “effective” alternative to your everyday biscuits. They are so quick to make that even the most unexpected guests can be treated to one within minutes. And kids love making them too! Plus they taste like the best bit of a traditional chocolate croissant…mmm…

I always keep some frozen puff pastry in the freezer for the simple fact that it is so easy to use and so versatile when making all things sweet or savoury. Melting chocolate puffs included.

In terms of the filling I used 1 square of Cadbury milk chocolate per puff, but you could use dark chocolate, jam or why not use dark chocolate and raspberry jam together? Just let them cool a little before biting into them…

Makes 6-8 puffs

2 ingredients: melting chocolate ‘croissant’ puffs

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 6-8 milk chocolate squares (see note above)

Preheat oven to 220C (200C fan forced, 425F, Gas mark 7).

Using a round or fluted cookie cutter (or drinking glass), cut out 12-16 pastry rounds. Make sure you have an even number of them.

Place a piece of chocolate in the middle of half the rounds, then brush each round with water around the edges, cover with another round and press down to make sure the edges stick toegther.

Place filled pastry on a baking sheet lined with non-stick paper and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes or until risen and golden brown. Allow to cool and dust with icing sugar before serving.
