9 slow cooker recipes to try this season

And if you don’t have to have a slow cooker – they can be easily done in an oven – and vice versa, making for an easy hands-free cooking option mid-week. What will you make next? Sauerkraut and Meat Stew

1. Sauerkraut and Meat Stew

Bigos – a traditional Polish Sauerkraut and Meat Stew is wonderfully tangy and can be made on the stove, in the slow cooker or in the oven (at 180C 350F for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally).

2. Bone Broth

Cass has a great recipe for a bone and veggie broth done in a slow cooker – it’s a no brainer really. Best of all, you get to use all the odd bits and bobs of veggies (which you can freeze in batches for this).

3. Greek-style Lamb Shoulder Tacos

One of my favourite ways to enjoy lamb is to slow cook it in the oven and this lamb shoulder recipe is no different. Serve with rice or as tacos! I also have a wonderful Lamb Shoulder Nachos recipe here.

4. Slow Cooker Maple Apple Butter

Tieghan’s recipe for Maple Apple Butter is a total winner. Stir it through yoghurt and top with some homemade granola for a delicious winter dessert.

5. Lentil, Coconut and Ham Hock Soup

Fragrant with kaffir lime leaves, chilli and shredded coconut, this Lentil Coconut and Ham Hock Soup, makes for a more summery rendition of the traditional winter comfort dish.

6. Apple Tart Overnight Oats

I love Sneh’s idea of waking up to a pot full of warm oats in the morning, ready to be devoured by hungry bellies!

7. Slow Cooker Muesli Bars

Here is another recipe which might become a lunchbox favourite for kiddlets and grown ups alike.

8. Easy Chicken Dinner

This one takes 5 minutes to pull together and get into the oven and then relax – OR do the million and one other things that need doing in the evenings if you’re a family person like Alexx. Aren’t we all?

9. Coconut Chicken and Potato Curry

If curry is more your thing – and let’s be honest on a cold wintry night it’s totally one of the best comfort foods, then you should definitely give Brenda’s curry recipe a go! Yum.

So, tell me, what are some of your favourite slow cooker recipes?
